Our core approach: Session recordings, microphone audio, transcripts, notes, and history are stored locally on your Mac by default. We do not automatically upload your recording library to PaperPilot Cloud. Optional sharing and hosted AI can transmit selected content only when you use those features. Separately, this website uses limited analytics and optional email services.
1. Who we are
VibeLogger is a software product operated under the PaperPilot brand. For privacy questions or data-rights requests, contact founder@paperpilot.me. This policy covers the VibeLogger app and website. Services operated by other companies, including payment and AI providers, have their own policies.
2. Information kept on your device
VibeLogger stores session video, microphone audio, local transcription, timestamps, notes, extracted insights, and related session history on your Mac. On-device speech transcription and basic local search can run without sending the session library to PaperPilot. You control the device, local backups, and the recording permissions granted through macOS.
Local-first does not mean the app never makes network requests. Optional features described below involve network connections. Automatically scanning recordings for sensitive information is off by default; you should review and redact content before sending it elsewhere.
3. Information sent when you choose hosted AI
If you select a hosted AI model or compatible remote endpoint and initiate an AI feature, the app may transmit selected transcript text, screen frames, prompts, and other relevant session context to that provider to process your request. Depending on your settings, this content may be unredacted. An AI request does not automatically upload an entire recording to PaperPilot Cloud. Compatible local model endpoints are also supported.
If you bring your own API key, the provider you configure processes requests under its own terms and privacy practices. If a future paid plan includes managed AI, we will identify relevant service providers and explain the applicable data flow before launch. Do not include secrets or sensitive third-party information unless you have a lawful basis and accept the provider's data practices.
4. Optional PaperPilot sharing
A cloud copy is created only when you initiate a sharing or upload action. Share to Web creates a browser-playback copy with separate access controls. Sharing an encrypted .vibe bundle encrypts a portable bundle on your Mac before transfer, with a key separate from the normal upload request. These are distinct protection models; a browser-playback share is not the same as an end-to-end encrypted bundle.
Recipients you authorize may be able to view or download shared material. Sharing services need to process the content and metadata needed to deliver or control access to your share. 5. Website analytics and email
Our website uses PostHog to understand aggregate use of pages, demo videos, downloads, and other site interactions. This can involve technical and interaction information such as page visited, approximate location derived from network data, browser characteristics, and event timestamps. Website analytics do not include your locally recorded videos or transcripts.
When you voluntarily request an emailed download link or sign up for product updates, we use Resend to deliver messages and manage your email preferences. The email address, request or subscription status, and related consent and delivery records may be processed for that purpose. If you request a download email, a browser cookie may remember the request for up to 90 days; the cookie does not contain your email address. Updates require separate opt-in. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages using the link in the email. Additional details are on the email privacy page.
6. Accounts and payment processing
Free local recording does not require purchasing a subscription. If account-based or paid features become available, we may process the account identifiers, plan and entitlement status, billing-related event identifiers, and support correspondence needed to provide the service. For direct purchases, Paddle acts as merchant of record, collects payment information, manages taxes and transaction records, and handles payment support. VibeLogger does not collect or store your full card number. See Paddle's privacy notice for payment data practices.
7. Why we process information and who receives it
We process information to deliver app and website functions, fulfill actions you request, communicate about downloads or subscriptions, provide support, understand website performance, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Depending on your location, the legal bases may include your consent, performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and compliance with law.
Relevant service providers include PostHog (website analytics), Resend (optional emails), Paddle (when payments launch), AI providers you configure or use through a future managed service, and PaperPilot Transfer for sharing you initiate. These services may process information in other countries under their own policies and applicable safeguards. We do not sell your locally stored session recordings to advertisers.
8. Retention and security
Local recordings remain on your Mac until you remove them or change your device storage. Optional cloud shares, analytics events, email contact records, and future billing or account records are retained as needed for their purposes, service operation, dispute resolution, security, and legal requirements, subject to provider retention rules. If you need information about a particular cloud copy or request deletion, contact us using the address below.
We use access controls and appropriate technical safeguards for operated services. No storage or transmission method guarantees absolute security. Keep your device protected, avoid including credentials in recordings, and use the available redaction and sharing controls.
9. Your choices and rights
You may decline optional hosted AI and cloud sharing, use compatible local endpoints, manage app permissions in macOS, delete local recordings, decline marketing emails, and unsubscribe at any time. Depending on applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information we control, or object to or restrict certain processing. Send requests to founder@paperpilot.me. We may need to verify your request and may retain some records where legally required.
Privacy requests concerning a configured third-party AI provider or Paddle's payment records may also need to be directed to that provider. We cannot directly delete files stored exclusively on your Mac.
10. Children and changes
VibeLogger is intended for developers and other professional users, not for children. We do not knowingly design the service to collect information from children. We may update this policy as features or laws change; the current version and date will be posted here. Material changes will be communicated when appropriate.
