Original recordings stay on your Mac
Video, microphone audio, transcript and session history are stored locally. Speech recognition runs on-device. Review your local recordings before exporting or sharing them.
Help, privacy & product details
Practical answers for recording, AI use, data handling and getting your first useful session. Never share API keys, passwords or private recordings when asking for help.
Local-first does not mean ‘never sent anywhere’
No automatic PaperPilot Cloud upload of your recorded sessions. Optional cloud sharing and optional hosted AI are separate choices.

A Share to Web upload makes a browser-playback copy. Encrypted .vibe bundle sharing encrypts the bundle on your Mac before uploading to PaperPilot Transfer ↗. Review what is shared and configure access settings.
When you use cloud AI features, selected transcript text and screen frames may be sent to the configured provider and may be unredacted unless you enable optional privacy scanning or apply redactions. Choose a compatible local model if you want a local AI path.
The marketing website uses limited PostHog events such as pageviews, demo watches, download clicks and which next-step link you use after downloading. The analytics integration does not send app recordings or transcripts. Email signup is optional.

Troubleshooting & answers
Open macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording (or Screen & System Audio Recording), Microphone and Speech Recognition. Enable VibeLogger where listed, then quit and reopen the app. The exact panel label depends on your macOS version.
Screen recording, session playback, on-device speech transcription and basic local search work without buying an AI subscription. AI-powered answers and summaries require your configured provider or compatible local model.
It means captured screen moments can be revisited alongside transcripts and session context, and used as evidence when asking about past work. It does not mean your coding assistant automatically sees or receives every screen recording.
You can record work while using these tools, then retrieve or deliberately share relevant evidence. The available agent-skill setup depends on the installed VibeLogger version and the coding agent. Do not assume a direct synchronized integration exists for every tool.
No. VibeLogger stores recordings, microphone audio, transcripts and session history on your Mac by default. A cloud copy is created when you initiate Share to Web or share an encrypted .vibe bundle through PaperPilot Transfer. Recording and playback do not require cloud session storage.
Do not confuse the two share modes. Encrypted .vibe bundles are sealed on your Mac with a separate key before upload. Share to Web is a browser-playback copy with separate access settings; it is not the same as an end-to-end encrypted .vibe bundle. Configure password, recipients or expiration where available and review uploaded content.
Hosted AI can receive selected transcript text or captured screen frames from an authorized session. Optional privacy scanning is off by default, so context may be unredacted. This is distinct from uploading the full recording to PaperPilot Transfer. Choose a compatible local AI endpoint if you prefer not to send that context to a hosted model.
Treat generated Playwright or Postman files as drafts. Verify selectors, assertions, environment variables, authentication, test data, and network behavior before running them on a real project.
The current installer targets macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. Check the release notes before installing on an older version or changing your deployment environment.
Pro checkout is not publicly enabled yet. The published $9/month and $79/year amounts are proposed. When purchasing opens, the Paddle checkout will disclose recurring charges, plan limits, refund terms and available cancellation options before payment.
